At EverAfter, your privacy is a core value. We build tools that help you express your deepest sentiments, and we believe your personal expressions should remain secure and confidential. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, protect, and use your information when you use our service.

2. Information We Collect

To operate the service effectively, we collect the following types of information:

• Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your email address and credentials to manage your account and authentication processes.
• User Content: We store the letters you write, configuration choices (background music, themes, quizzes), audio voice recordings, and polaroid photos you upload.
• Recipient Data: Email addresses or contact info for recipients you specify, solely to deliver letters. We do not use recipient information for marketing purposes.
• Technical Usage Data: Standard server logs, IP addresses, browser types, and access times, which we use purely to diagnose technical issues and secure the platform.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

• To provide, manage, and scale the EverAfter service.
• To deliver letters to your recipients and track delivery/open events.
• To store uploaded media assets (such as polaroid images and audio messages) securely.
• To send service notifications, transactional emails, or security updates.
• To investigate and prevent fraudulent activity or terms violations.

4. Data Storage & Service Providers

We utilize respected third-party providers to help us run the service:

• Firebase (Google Cloud Platform): Used for secure user authentication, database management (Firestore), and asset storage (Firebase Storage). Firebase handles data using industry-standard security and encryption protocols.
• Ko-fi: Used to process support donations. We do not receive, store, or process your credit card or financial details directly.

We never sell, rent, or distribute your personal data or the contents of your letters to advertisers, brokers, or third parties.

5. Security Gates & Letter Privacy

All love letters are stored securely. To ensure letters can only be read by their intended recipients, we provide a "Security Gate" feature. When enabled, this requires the recipient to answer a custom security question (set by you) before breaking the wax seal and reading the letter. We encourage all creators to use this feature for extra privacy.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the service. You have the right to request the permanent deletion of your account and all associated letters, recordings, and images by contacting us. Once requested, we will delete this data from our active databases and storage systems.

7. Children's Privacy

EverAfter is not designed or intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their details, please contact us so we can immediately purge it from our records.
